Irondale Police Cornhole Tournament Raises $8,300 for Fallen Officer Fund
The Irondale Police Department turned a friendly game of cornhole into an incredible act of community support last weekend. Their 5th Annual First Responders Cornhole Tournament brought neighbors, businesses, and law enforcement together to raise over $8,300 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund—all in honor of Lt. Mark Meadows, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on January 6, 2025.
Lt. Meadows, a 30-year veteran of the Irondale Police Department, was struck by a pickup truck while directing traffic on Grants Mill Road earlier this year. Known for his dedication to service, Meadows was not only a respected officer but also a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. His law enforcement journey began in 1992, and he proudly served his country in the military before protecting his Irondale community for three decades.
This year’s tournament was a true community effort, supported by a powerhouse lineup of local businesses and organizations:
Peak Seasons, Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce, GR8 Auctions LLC/Pick-A-Pallet, Donohoo Chevrolet, Wallace Jordan Ratliff and Brandt LLC, Golden Rule BBQ, HC3, Harris & Sons, Capital Video, Railroad Community Credit Union, Las Macarenas, Weathertech, Irondale Community Foundation, Stewart Perry, R & K Automotive Services, Porsche Club of America/Alabama Region, and Chick-fil-A.
A special shout-out goes to Matt with Alabama Cornhole for his help running the event and to Two Men & A Truck for generously hosting this year’s tournament.
Events like these show what makes Irondale special: a close-knit community that shows up, supports each other, and honors its heroes.
